Since its introduction earlier this year, Google Buzz has attracted quite a bit of attention, not all of it positive. A social media tool built on top of Gmail, it takes advantage of a user’s email network by integrating photos, videos, links, and other resources. But some of its features, and their abrupt introduction to Gmail accounts, has prompted some lawmakers to say it should be investigated for compromising user privacy. In the meantime, it has generated some positive attention as well, including this report on Mashable, The Social Media Guide, that explains how non-profits can use Buzz to their advantage. The article says non-profits can use it to effectively manage public conversations, to integrate email across a group, to allow tech-savvy workers to connect with workers who are not, and to introduce geo-location on the fly.
